Sunnie’s Founder’s Letter
“Where beauty and well-being meet intention.”
I grew up in my father’s salon in Buffalo, New York — answering phones as a young receptionist and working as a shampoo assistant for $1 tips long before I was tall enough to comfortably reach the bowls. I come from a family filled with hairstylists, and from an early age, I saw how beauty spaces become places of connection, confidence, and care. I knew this industry was part of my story.
“Sunnie” has been my family nickname since I was young. Born from the way my little sister tried to say “Stephanie.” It stuck, and over time it became more than a nickname. It became part of who I am. A reminder of warmth, light and the heart behind everything I do.
When my father retired from the industry, I stepped forward and opened my own small salon in Huntersville — beginning what would become 15 years of dedicated ownership, carrying forward the foundation he had instilled in me. After all of those years working in a chemical-heavy field, I felt called to evolve. I wanted to create something deeper — more intentional, holistic, and rooted in scalp health, education and true well-being.
I also carried a quiet dream — to one day create a space of my own inside an old building with history in its walls and character that simply cannot be manufactured. I dreamed of exposed brick, creaky wood floors, and an atmosphere that feels lived-in and meaningful. Sunnie Spa & Scalp Sanctuary is the realization of those dreams— a place where legacy and purpose come together.
I envisioned a sanctuary where people could slow down, reconnect, and rediscover what wellness truly means. For me, beauty has always been about energy— the quiet power that radiated from within when we are for ourselves intentionally. Here, modern science and timeless ritual meet, and hair, scalp, skin, and holistic education come together to restore the balance not just on the surface, but at the source.
Every element of Sunnie Spa has been designed with purpose, from textures and scents to the flow of energy in each room. I believe that spaces can heal, hold stories, and be places of transformation. My hope is every guest leaves with something deeper than relaxation — a sprat of awareness and curiosity about their body, breath, and well-being,
As I step into this next chapter, my hope is to build something lasting — a Sunnie legacy rooted in education integrity, and intentional care; one defined not just by beautiful spaces, but by the way people feel when they walk through our doors.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
With warmth and purpose,
Sunnie
